چکیده

Rapid increases in computing and communication performance are exacerbating the long-standing problem of performance-limited input/output. Indeed, for many otherwise scalable parallel applications, input/output is emerging as a major performance bottleneck. The design of scalable input/output systems depends critically on the input/output requirements and access patterns for this emerging class of large-scale parallel applications. However, hard data on the behavior of such applications is only now becoming available. In this paper, we describe the input/output requirements of three scalable parallel applications (electron scattering, terrain rendering, and quantum chemistry) on the Intel Paragon XP/S. As part of an ongoing parallel input/output characterization effort , we used instrumented versions of the application codes to capture and analyze in-put/output volume, request size distributions, and temporal request structure. Because complete traces of individual application input/output requests were captured, in-depth, oo-line analyses were possible. In addition, we conducted informal interviews of the application developers to understand the relation between the codes' current and desired input/output structure. The results of our studies show a wide variety of temporal and spatial access patterns, including highly read-intensive and write-intensive phases, extremely large and extremely small request sizes, and both sequential and highly irregular access patterns. We conclude with a discussion of the broad spectrum of access patterns and their profound implications for parallel le caching and prefetching schemes.

A W-band Simultaneously Matched Power and Noise Low Noise Amplifier Using CMOS 0.13µm

A complete procedure for the design of W-band low noise amplifier in MMIC technology is presented. The design is based on a simultaneously power and noise matched technique. For implementing the method, scalable bilateral transistor model parameters should be first extracted. The model is also used for transmission line utilized in the amplifier circuit. In the presented method, input/output ma...

Ultra-Widband Distributed Amplifier Using Loss Compensation Technique on Both Input and Output Circuit

In this paper, we analyze a distributed amplifier based on input/output attenuation compensation. The analysis is carried out for a HEMT transistor; and a constant-k section filter is used to calculate the amplifier’s characteristics such as attenuation factor, phase constant and gain. The proposed design approach enables us to examine the tradeoff among the variables, which include the type an...

Using Neural Network to Determine Input Excesses, Output Shortfalls and Efficiency of Dmus in Russell Mode

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has two fundamental approaches for assessing theefficiency with different characteristics; radial and non-radial models. This paper isconcerned the non-radial model of Russell which is a non linear model. Conventional DEAfor a large dataset with many inputs/outputs would require huge computer resources in termsof memory and CPU time. Artificial Neural Network (AN...

The Effect of Input, Input-output andOutput-input Modes of Teaching on Vocabulary Learning of Iranian EFL Learners

This study was designed to find which one of the three different presentations, i.e. input, input-output, and output-input, will be more effective in Iranian EFL learners' vocabulary acquisitions. To this end, first 54 out of 64 female students, aged from 19 to 23 years, with an average of 21, were selected out of starter-level EFL learners at the University of Tarbiat Moalem in Bandar Abbas, I...
